Palipalintjanya
2021

Palipalintjanya is a place known for its swamp and rockhole. In the Dreaming, a large group of ancestral Tingarri men camped here before traveling south. No further information was provided because Tingarri events are considered sacred and secret. It is the site of his father's Dreaming conception.

Language Group: Pintupi
Date: Born 1968

John West Tjupurrula was born in Alice Springs Hospital to Freddy West Tjakamarra and Parara Napaltjarri. Growing up in Papunya and later moving to Kintore and Kiwirrkurra with other Pintupi people, John started to paint for Papunya Tula Artists in September 2002. John’s paintings depict his traditional country around Kiwirrkurra, and when he is not painting, he works as a teacher in Kiwirrkurra.
